Meet Datarwe Senior Software Engineer, C++ Guru

Adrian Ugray – Senior Software Engineer at Datarwe

In our interview series, today we are meeting with Adrian Ugray, Datarwe Senior Software Engineer, C++ Guru

Datarwe uses high-quality, real world data to design analytics platforms and tools that accelerates AI model development and improves research and medical outcomes in the healthcare space.

What is your title, and can you tell me a little about your role at Datarwe?

I’m a Software Engineer. At Datarwe, I am helping to improve the overall architecture of the medical ingestion process and am designing and implementing the software to achieve that.

You worked in the financial sector for over 20 years. What inspired you to move to the healthcare industry?

I do find the financial sector can be fast-paced and exciting. However, the sense of fulfilment and pride in knowing that your work may help to improve people’s lives, keep them healthy and to live longer is very satisfying.

What are 3 words to describe Datarwe?

Energetic. Intelligent. Imaginative.

What is your favourite thing about working at Datarwe?

Perhaps cliché – but the people! Everyone has been very welcoming and friendly. On top of that I get to play with some cool medical toys.

Is there a project in Datarwe that you are/were proud of being part of?

My main project has been dealing with the technical side of dealing with large amounts of patient data collected from bed-side monitors. I’m proud to have been able to bring some of my existing skills to the party to create a system that can hopefully deal with capturing and forwarding all types of medical data for AI processing.

How do you think AI has transformed the healthcare sector and what innovations do you think AI will help achieve in the future?

Technology is moving at a rapid pace and AI and ML is now able to be used to analyse vast amounts of data at continuously faster rates. The technology to generate, store and process this data is becoming more affordable for all, and so I foresee a larger proportion of the world’s population having access to earlier diagnosis and detection of potentially avoidable health issues.

What would be an alternative career path?

Something to do with the creative arts – perhaps some acting!

What do you like to do when you aren’t working?

Outdoor activities – camping, beach, walking with my wife and 2 kids.

Any final quotes or comments you live your life by?

Treat everyone the way you’d expect you and your loved ones to be treated. And make sure you have a laugh with those around you. 😊
